Process
The intended audience comprises Tech Crowd magazine readers, aged 28-45, with a keen interest in technology and business.
The story shows changes in smartphone use versus broadband internet, with outcomes depending on the demographic. Key concepts reveal diverse factors influencing data, providing insights into smartphone dependency. Using multiple graphs with varied data enhances user understanding.
Visualization type 1:
-Line graph: This graphic enables the reader to swiftly grasp the trends for each year, offering a flow that the other two visuals lack.
Visualization type 2:
-Scatter plot: This visual enables the reader to swiftly discern trends, similar to the line graph, eliminating unnecessary information (0% in 2014, 2017, and 2020).
Visualization type 3:
-Clustered column: This enables readers to quickly scan the information and interpret the findings. For instance, if they wish to focus on 2018, the year with the highest percentage, they can do so without any information overlap.
The color selection is derived from the logo, forming a straightforward monochromatic palette to enhance the visual impact.
Solution
At Tech Crowd, we addressed the inquiry, “Who is smartphone-dependent by demographic?” In order to comprehensively answer this question, we analyzed data from three distinct demographics, considering various factors. To present our findings effectively, we crafted three graphs, offering viewers a visual representation of the data. This infographic was developed for a hypothetical tech company.
